You should probably start a new thread, but it doesn't matter what server you're using, Adobe *ONLY* supports saving directly to a network share if you are using their VersionCue productThe issues, the file corruption, the data loss. Upon re-installing OSX (on itself) to "repair" whatever adobe may have changed reliably fixed the issue.I have not tried this fix in our environment yet, but may soon since we have swapped out / re-imaged a problem user's mac pro 3 times now.Hi philipcatchpole. You may be onto something there. The backstory for this is Kurt noticed after testing an obcene amount of times, that upon installing adobe's product on a fresh OSX installation it starts breaking icon files. It is annoying.THough after spending way too much time reading through this 10 page thread: I found this interesting nugget of information in post 244 by Kurt Lang:What is interesting is /private/var/folders/CX/CXfEN29QGWq+RcH2FgSVik+++TI/-Caches-/com.appl e.QuickLook.thumbnailcache/But is that from thumbnails being added, or the OS resetting the database?I wonder if some of the thumbnail issues could be due to a corrupt SQLlite database for the thumbnails? That is a great catch! I overlooked that one. As far back as "CS":"Adobe Technical Support only supports using Photoshop and Adobe Bridge on a local hard disk."Work in a mostly mac agency office with about ~30 users running CS6, seem to get the photoshop failure to write to windows smb server around once a day sometimes more.Use VersionCue, or digital asset management solution for check in/check out, or copy from the server to desktop, edit, save, copy from desktop to file server.Save yourself the stress, abandon all hope of finding a fix and use Adobe's supported workflows. It could, but getting a PO for 100 copies of it would be a little too much of an adventure for me ) Also we are using casper (& some landesk) for the imaging / software deployment.Note this is the "solution" that I tested reliably from our in house ticketing system:If I select the file in finder and have the preview column enabled so it shows a preview of the selected file, then open it with PS, make changes and try to save the changes ontop of the currently pre-viewed file. In that time, I read every Adobe support article, tried every product and fix under the sun. It's not a Mac only thing either, it happens on Windows too.I spent 8 years in IT for a printing company. Doesn't matter if you are using a Windows file server, Mac File Server, Windows File Server running ExtremeZ-IP, if you're editing files across a network with Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud products YOU WILL HAVE ISSUES! Could be permissions, could be corruption and data loss.Of course I could try to train our designers on Adobe's workflow. Note powerpoint and most other applications ignore the issue, photoshop get's angry because it does far more error checking than other applications.BTW: I tested every combination of saving the file with preview column off and it saves just fine since it PS is not opening a "in use" file.Aka: Manually disable the "Preview Column" in Finder, working around the user behavior that causes the bug to show up.
